Vista Cay - 1st Day

At Vista Cay we are remodeling a bedroom to move the door into another wall and then construct a larger closet where the doorway used to be. We first started off by moving all the furniture aside and covering it with plastic protection, then covering the carpet where we will be working and walking with protective plastic too.

Once all our protection was added, we began removing the furniture from the first bedroom we were going to work in and rolled up the carpet and covered it with plastic.

Once the carpet was out of the way, we removed the door frames from the closet and the main entrance to the room. Once they were  out of the way we started to take apart the closet, leaving the side wall to act as a wall for the new closet.

Doors and frames removed and set aside

With the closet removed and all the debris disposed off we began to remove a section of wall to provide the new doorway for the bedroom. This bedroom will lead out into the main hallway which leads to another bedroom and the primary bathroom.

New doorway cut out of wall

With the hole cut for a new door way, it was time to build, install and secure the new framing for the new doorway.

Finally, we cut back the tile floor from the old doorway so that we could build and install a frame to attach a new drywall wall in place.
